This statement of privacy applies to www.getsavvi.co.za (“the Website”) and governs data collection and usage. By using the Website you consent to the data practices described in this statement. Your information is yours – always. We will always collect the minimum amount of Personal Information necessary to provide our Services to you. Our staff and Authorised Representatives are bound by confidentiality and privacy obligations that align directly with this Privacy Policy. They are given access only to the information they require to fulfil their responsibilities. This information is only accessed from our offices and not remotely by staff.

This Privacy Policy describes and explains what Personal Information we collect, how we use it and how we protect it. “Personal Information” means any information that is recognised as such under South African Law and includes any information which identifies you (our customer) or which, when linked to other information, can personally identify you.

1.   Personal Information

What Personal Information does our FSP collect and how is it used?

You understand and accept that we process your Personal Information for purposes of providing you with Financial Advice as required by us in terms of the Financial Services and Intermediary Services Act. We only collect Personal Information that is reasonably necessary for us to provide this Service to you.

  • Basic Information

  • Account Information
Cover values, beneficiary details and other account-specific details that you provide directly to our FSP. You will have access to this information upon request or via login to the Client Zone.
  • Billing Information
Bank account or other payment details you provide or may have provided. This information is disclosed to our Product Provider’s authorised billing service during the collection process and is only used for purposes of maintaining the Financial Product purchased by you.
  • Correspondence Information
Information we collect when we receive correspondence from you via email, WhatsApp text messages and phone calls. This includes your sender information as well as the content of the message. We use this information to communicate with you and to improve the Service and to maintain our Financial Services responsibilities towards you.
  • Additional Verification Information
Copies of your identity document and/or proof of address in order for us to verify your identity and for FICA purposes.
  • Financial Product Uptake and Pricing
We may require you to provide your cell phone number, date of birth, gender, income level, residential address and medical record, including information about physical or psychological state of health or well-being; disability; disease state; medical history, medical treatment or diagnosis by a healthcare professional; pregnancy status; or other similar details to enable you to take up the relevant financial product offering.
  • Optional Personal Information
You may also opt to provide us with information such as your age, employment status, marital status, number of children, residential province and city, financial objectives regarding affordability, personal interests and other similar details that we may use to provide you with more accurate financial advice.

Is your Personal Information deleted when you terminate your business relationship with us?

Yes. When you terminate your business relationship with us there may, however, be some information that we are required to retain by South African law.

Do we retain your data for as long as we need it unless you ask us to delete it?

Yes. We will keep your information for as long as you are an active client of our FSP. We delete your information when you terminate your business relationship with us, but will retain some Personal Information for as long as we are obliged to do so under South African law. Such information will always be maintained under the same security and privacy controls that are in place for other clients of our FSP.

Can our staff see your Personal Information?

Yes. Our FSP’s staff are, however, bound by comprehensive confidentiality obligations. 4.   Privacy Policy Updates

Can we change our Privacy Policy, and what happens if it does?

Yes. We may change our Privacy Policy at any time. We will notify you of any lessening of your rights or our obligations regarding your Personal Information before such changes are made. We will post the new policy on the Website and if you are not happy with the new Privacy Policy, you may terminate your business relationship with us. The most current version of the policy will govern our use of your Personal Information and will always be available on our website at www.getsavvi.co.za. By continuing to use our Services after changes to the Privacy Policy become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.

What happens if the ownership of the GetSavvi Group changes hands?

If we become involved in any merger, consolidation or sale of our assets, and this involves the sharing in any way of your Personal Information, we will ensure the confidentiality of such information and let you know before your Personal Information is transferred and becomes subject to a different Privacy Policy.
