Thank you for letting us steal your time to introduce you to our members, Wayne! Tell us about your career history.
My career started in 1991, fresh out of school where I worked at Sanlam H/O in the postal department delivering post (a job which might have become moot since then).
I studied while working for notable medical aid brands and finally landed in the insurance industry where I was employed by GetSavvi Health’s underwriter, African Unity Life, as Regional Business Development Manager.
This tenure took the most of 14 years of my business career. During this time, I was privileged to obtain my B-Tech Degree in Business Administration.
What are some of your hobbies or weekend pastimes you enjoy when not working hard?
Reading, gardening, DIY projects and spending quality time with my family.
What is your and your team at GetSavvi Health’s main goal?
Our main goal is, through our range of health benefits, to reduce the burden on state hospitals and resources by allowing members access to affordable, quality healthcare.
It’s no secret that South Africans are one of the most hard-working people on the globe, and having access to primary healthcare can change and save lives.
Simply by having that first point of contact with a health professional to nip some of our country's most deadly diseases like stroke, diabetes and hypertension in the bud.
What is your goal as CEO?
To facilitate and guide a team to continue providing quality primary healthcare to our members. Therefore, we also promise to: keep improving our products to enhance the lives of our members; go the extra mile in trying to resolve members’ queries; hold our providers to high standards; and always strive to be the best at what we do.
As our members already know, GetSavvi Health was recently acquired by Workforce Holdings. Now that GetSavvi Health is officially part of the Workforce family, how does it feel?
Not only am I personally excited, but I know the whole GetSavvi Health team is ready to be mentored by our “big brother” from an operational, managerial, strategic and reporting point of view within a JSE-listed environment. And, ultimately, to put our new knowledge to good use and help GetSavvi Health grow so that we can continue offering healthcare benefits that are unparalleled.
